I also loved / hated the book.

I loved it because I couldn't put it down, hated it because it pretended to be something it's not. Not all it claims to be true is. A thought I was reading a novel, but when reading the newpapers I discovered that a lot of people thought they were reading the truth.

Looking forward to the movie!

Yeah, that's my sentiments exactly. If Dan Brown had just never even attempted to say "this is all true" on the first page, I'd have liked the book a hell of a lot better. This stupid act of idiocy made me read the book with a highly critical mind and half ruined the reading experience. Plus - in all honesty - the plot is stupid and the characters hardly believable. Wink

But it's a cracking good read nevertheless.

I will see it when it comes to cable. Read the book in about 18 hours. Good story. Cool

To understand The Da Vinci Code one needs to read the "prequel" Angels & Demons.  In Angels and Demons Dan Brown creates the main character Langdon and basically sets the stage for all the twists and turns, art, symbology, and of course the area between good and evil.  I saw the movie but must confess it would have made less sense if the aforementioned reading had not been done.

In some ways I liked Angels and Deamons better, it brought science into it, even if it was Bogus!
