I was wondering if any one has seen or otherwise checked out SPORE, it's by Will Wright. It looks positively amazing.

I'm a game junky and for the past two or three years I have been very dissappointed in the selection of newer games, they just don't have the life that some of the older games have.

I was wondering further if anyone has any games titles that they are looking forward to in the next decade or so?

You've been dissapointed in the lifelessness of games?! Shocked Man I positively beg to differ!

HL3 is what I hope to wait for...

I quite enjoyed HL:2, single player and I definantly look forward to the next few chapters and even a sequal, but I am dissapointed generally in the multiplayer and in FPSes in general. There are good ones but most are simply using a cookie cutter template. They aren't new they are just same old with new graphics. New graphics mean less to me than Engaging storyline, interesting characters and otherwise depth.

Spore promises some of that. Though it's a more generalized personal game.

I want some advanced RPGs (most really haven't advanced really). I've played Elderscrolls IV:Oblivion, and though I am impressed, it falls short of it's ultimate potential... though it is infinitely better than Morrowind... I broke that game so fast.

I want games which are non-linear, character driven, ad-hoc and truely innovative.

I was struck into awe by many games and have been impressed with many more since. But I can write a list of the games which have shaped my life since playing them. The ones which are truely influential and which I want to see expanded upon.

Real Time Strategy: Total Annihilation, hands down the best RTS I have ever played. Warzone 2020.

Single player, Turn Base Strategy: Sid Meier. Need I say more?

Real Time City Builder: Sim City 2000, the Space age buildings rock, and I got Really good at that game... I need to get another copy.

TBS Conquer the Galaxy: Master of Orion I. Emperor of the Fading Suns.

FPS: Half-life, Half-life 2.

RPGs: Rage of Mages, Rage of Mages: Necromancer. Planescape:Torment (This game is one of the best I have ever played. The story evolves with your actions and has so many paths that it's really truely insane... on top of that it has a romance engine like Baldur's Gate II.)

RTS, Simulator: Battlezone

Dungeon Fun: Dungeon Keeper and Dungeon Keeper II. (both have their special qualities)

(Mech) Simulator: Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries

Realistic Simulator: Jane's Combat Simulation Series

Life Simulator: Creatures Series

There are some odder games that I have played in my history, and I am not including Platformers here, they get their own category, but that is my top list. All those are games I have ethier owned previously, currently own and will own again should I ever have A) the money and B) oppertunity, to collect them once again.

Some of my favorite games won't play on this computer, so I am going to have to aquire software and other fixes to get them functioning on this system or get another system completely so that I can play my favs.

Nothing against newer games, but most of them are improved graphics and little else.

graphics are an impressive part of a game, but obviously not tge be all end all! To often will I go back to playing old games, old computer classics, N64 and even snes on the occasion! just because of the games playability.
