Went nuts and bought an Xbox 360 last week. Don't really have much time to play it - I got Gears of War which I haven't even unwrapped yet, and Project Gotham Racing 3 which is simply *stunning*.

The 360 is a great console. Too bad it's so god damn noisy!

I have the 360 as well, but I got for Christmas when it first came out. However that one broke after downloading one of Microsoft's updates from xbox live (I have xbox live gold). The games froze randomly while playing whether they were for the 360 or the original xbox. So last month I sent it in for repair which was free (Microsoft gave all launch-console owners free repairs) and it turned out to be unrepairable so they gave me a new one. And I have to say that the quality difference is astounding. My launch console was slower, got extremely hot and sounded like a blender when you put a disk in. The new one is cool, quite and and much faster; I couldn't be happier the first one died. What's your console's manufacturing date? Mine was made sometime last May, it could be possible you got an older launch console if its really loud. I would also recommend looking at Call of Duty 2 and 3(in my opinion call of duty 2 is better).

Well, the noise of the 360 is a well known problem...but I don't know the manufacturing date though. Where do I check that?
