Sweet! Where do you shoot? Indoor range? Outdoor range? Forest?

I had a .36 cal reproduction Navy cap-n-ball that I put thousands of rounds through over about 20 years. It wore the cylinder pin so loose in the brass frame I finally broke it up as too dangerous.  Lips Sealed

If I get another black-powder I'm going for a reproduction Remington Army .44 with target sights and a couple spare cylinders.  Tongue

Been nice shootin' wit ya!  Grin Be sure of your backstop.  Undecided

u shoot at an indoor range here in norcross, i have a concealed carry permit. thats why the keltec its the smallest 9 mm made fits in my front pocket.

the ruger is my best handgun for extended shooting weight helps reduce hand gun bite.200 rounds 1st time no strain and very very accurate

No close indoor ranges, & it's been a few years since I went to the local outdoor. Mostly just shoot a box of shells or 2 in the forest any more; just too damn expensive for me.  Cool Treat every gun as if it is loaded.  Shocked

I hunted for years with a 50 caliber Pennsylvania style jager (short barrel) rifle.

Cap and ball is for those folks who can't re-knap their flint on the fly.  Grin

Keep your powder dry, y'all.

Grin Did you, do you, have you ever, used Pyrodex in your black powder arms? I preferred it to black powder as it is not as dirty to clean up, and it is more compressable than black powder.  Tongue

Been a long time, since I fired a black powder round, but I believe the powder I used went by that name. Came in a red can. If I remember correctly, I used double F in the barrel and triple F for priming the pan. I saw your reference to Hoppes #9. We went through a few bottles of those after we went target shooting on a friends range.

A buddy of mine has an indoor range (in the basement of his silk screen printing business. Unfortunately the ventilation is not good enough to fire black powder guns so now I stick to mostly 22 caliber for target practice, or 32, 45, or 9 mm, depending on how much money I want to spend on ammo.

The NRA rifle program I trained in as a boy was in the basement of an old hospital. We shot .22's at 50 feet with 8 slots. No ear protection Undecided, no ventilation Sad, but otherwise strict attention to safety Smiley. Couldn't even touch a gun 'til you passed a written 100 question test with 85% or better, and an oral practical. I think we paid 20 cents for a box of 50 cartridges.  Tongue
