meh?
I was trying to refer to books that have stood the test of time from 1600-1800's.

Yes, Lord of the rings will be classic..(if its not already)

Traditional Classics here! (usually of the non-sci-fi, fantasy kind)
I have read a bunch!
Thats why I'm so goddamned smart! they are great education..

My favorite is Steinbeck, but I wouldn't consider him classic yet; but he will be. I've read every one of his books!
Pure Literary Genius...

Again, I am also partial to Dickens.
Hard Times and A Tale of Two Cities are great!!!

I love everything from Edgar Allan Poe:
"the all of the house of usher"
"the pit and the pendulum"
"the tell-tale heart"

to name a few. I have a collection called - "Tales of Mystery and Imagination". It's well worn, I can open it on any page and be into the story and just read a couple of pages.

His works rocks!

Martian Chronicles, I Sing the Body Electric, Something Wicked This Way Comes & of course Fahrenheit 451. Gotta love yer Bradbury.

A side note on these books and others I may mention; I remember very little about them other than I read them & liked them. Couldn't tell you a single characters name to save my life. Huh

Has anyone ever read?
Humphry Clinker - by Tobias Smollett.

I picked it up at a used book store, and it took me a little while to finish. It was a random old book I decided to read.

He was Scottish, and the book was written in the 1700's.
Anyone heard of this guy, read any of his books??

It was decent. A bit mirthful and humorous.
It was a nice portrait of what life was like back then.  Smiley
