What's cookin' good lookin'? Cool
I usually like to cook. For one, my housemates don't like what I do, but mainly I just like it. Very algorithmic. Grin

Growing up with the mother that I did, I couldn't help but pick up on cooking.

Cooking in itself isn't incredibly fun.... until you actually get to sit down and enjoy the plate of hot food you just cooked.

I love slapping together stir frys out of whatever i can find in the kitchen. I also know a little bit about french cuisine. Crepes are my favorite. But they take soooo looonggg to make from scratch.

I also like to make my own tortilla chips. They taste better when they're fresh out of the hot oil. Especially if you cover them in cinnomin sugar.

Wow... this guy is groovy---  Afro

I love cookbooks, I love food magazines and I love to watch people making food on TV. I've even found a videopodcast about food!

I make a really good risotto and I also have a favourite tomato pastasauce. I love to cook, but mainly chicken or minced mead - or a good salad or stir fry... anything goes.

Anyone into giving away their favorite receipe?

This is extremely unfair. You brag about making good food. I say you have one of two choices: 1. You come here and cook for us - or 2. You let others try for themselves. Food is meant to be shared!

Tomorrow is our National Day in Norway. The stores always run out ouf cream and eggs as everybody is making cakes, and omelettes (to go with smoked salmon).

Did you know you can't copyright / patent a recipe?

New Recipe Just Invented:  Pork Chops Inferno

2 thick pork chops, may be 'butterflied'
1 can Cream of Broccolli soup
1 serrano pepper
1 Tspn of Creole rub (or make your own*)
1 small onion
2 cloves garlic
2/3 cup of Pinot Noir white wine (or water if you prefer)
Enough rice for two people
Olive oil

Start rice going.
Chop onion, garlic and serrano pepper, put in medium hot skillet with a little oil.
Coat pork chops with rub.
When onion is transparent, push to sides of skillet, put in pork chops.
Brown ("blacken") pork chops on both sides.
Put in can of soup, and the wine (or water), blend.
Lower temp to simmer, cover, cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring twice.
Remove from heat and serve with soup-gravy over rice.

Creole rub:
2 tspns of paprika powder
pinches of: salt, black pepper, garlic powder, celery seeds, ground basil

i knew if i did enough hunting i'd find the foodies! Tongue

i love to cook (and bake!) and although i don't really use recipes (except when it comes to baking) i'm a committed cookbook junkie and watch way too much foodnetwork.

i think i'll make a pizza tomorrow night. if i remember i'll post some pizza pics.

side by side views: the pre-baked pizza & and the finished product. this pizza has lots of onions and bell pepper with a few pepperoni slices. i'm enjoying a slice with some added some red pepper flakes, parmesean cheese and a cold beer. Wink

(sorry for the poor resolution; these are phone camera pics)
